Kapok Hotel Extension

Project Architect: Thomas McCartney

Project Value: $8,000,000.00

Client: Kapok Hotel

Date Completed: September, 1998

The extension involved the construction of an additional nine storey high wing to the western side. This involved expansion of the lobby and ground floor, adding 24 rooms on 6 floors, expansion of the existing TIKI Village Restaurant and Conference Room Facilities on the 9th and 10th floors and renovation of the exterior of the existing hotel. All work was undertaken whilst the hotel was operating.
The biggest challenges were the limited space to construct the wing allowing very little storage for materials and keeping noise and dust levels to a minimum so as to not affect the on-going operations of the Hotel.
